Selwyn and Gabriel

Selwyn and Gabriel by Richard Kaplan, writer of The Finkelsteins are Coming to Dinner is a magical modern mystery about two strangers with secrets.

Late at night, a young man is confronted in his own home by an enigmatic stranger. Something terrible has happened. What starts as a violent encounter evolves through the night into an intriguing journey of discovery about regret and real estate, flight and friendship, lies and integrity – and love, as Gabriel draws Selwyn into the truth – a truth that is both tender and terrifying.

The play, under the direction of Tara Notcutt, features Kai Luke Brummer as Selwyn and Mbulelo Grootboom as Gabriel. Both are award-winning actors who bring freshness and passion to their roles.

Selwyn and Gabriel is Richard Kaplan’s second play. His first play, The Finkelsteins are Coming to Dinner which was performed at the Alexander Bar and at the Cape Town Fringe Festival in 2016, was well received by the audience and critics for its humour, poignancy and quirkiness.
